Man walking home from pub attacked, robbed

Police: He was accompanied home by an unknown man.

A 27-year-old man who was returning home from a pub was attacked and robbed near his home in Zenzele, Randfontein Police said.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday, 2 April.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson told the Herald it is alleged the man was sosialising with a friend at a drinking venue in the area when he decided to go home. He was accompanied home by an unknown man.

When reaching the entrance to Zenzele, it is alleged he suddenly was attacked by the unknown man.

He was assaulted and hit with a firearm on the head. The suspect searched the victim, taking his cash and a cellular telephone. The suspect then fled.

“Residents should be cautious and aware of the dangers of carrying large amounts of cash. It is suggested that only what is absolutely needed should be carried with a person.

“For personal safety also request the company of someone you know. 

Do not walk alone and do not trust strangers with your safety,” said Ernst.
