Lawn mower thief arrested

It belongs to someone at the taxi rank – suspect to police.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and will face a charge of being in possession of suspected stolen property after Westonaria Police said he stole a lawn mower.

The suspect is to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court before 19 April.

Captain Siphiwe Ndlovu, Westonaria Police spokesperson explained that while police was patrolling around the Westonaria business area they spotted a suspicious person carrying a lawn mover.

The police approached the suspect and asked to search him. After searching the suspect, the police inquired about the lawn mover. The suspect told police the lawn mover belongs to someone at the taxi rank.

“Police then proceeded to the taxi rank with the suspect to point out the owner of the lawn mover but he could not. He also couldn’t give the name or address of the alleged owner. The suspect was then arrested.”
