‘Zuma must go’

Out of the 19 community members approached, only one said Zuma should remain in his position.

Love him or hate him, but the president has the resilience of a bungee chord.

The Herald recently took to the streets to find out what Randfontein thinks about President Jacob Zuma and the recent Nkandla verdict that he should pay back the money. Should he stay or should he go?

Sunnyboy Mokwatsi, 38, made it clear and simple, saying Zuma should go owing to his corruption.

Petro Jansen van Rensburg, 55, totally agreed and Natasha van der Berg, 29, said,

He needs to go. It is time for change.”

Brenda Mbyzana, 34, spoke her mind and said, “He is not a faithful president. He is just using poor people’s money, while we can not get jobs.”

Magriet van der Linde, 54, said he steals the country’s money and he doesn’t care about the white people.

Coenie Thiart said, “Zuma and his cabinet are corrupt.”

Donavan van Lelyveld, 22, laughingly said, “There is not even a doubt. He must go.”

Colin Lesley, 58, said that Zuma does not do anything for the people, and even matriculants can not find work. He does not care for the coloured community.

Pepe Khumalo, 61, has a totally different view. He said from a Christian point of view, we must learn to forgive. It does not make a difference whether Zuma stays or goes, especially with the current economy.

Jack Kaniki, 32, said Zuma is not able to direct people and he is not a good leader; he should definitely go.

“Zuma must fall, Maimane must balance and Malema must stand,” sang Vincent Sebe and Papi Assegaai.

Charlotte Mulder, 70, doesn’t believe Zuma is a good president, and said he is everything a president should not be.

Annelize Mvandaba and Ndabeni Lusanda, both 24 and unemployed, said,

He is derailing the country and the economy is going down. It is a go.”

Riaan Groenewald, 42, said the president is not a good example for the youth.

Mohammed Bhaiyait, 30, believes Zuma should leave the cabinet.

Amanda van Zyl, 50, thinks he should leave and a female president should replace him.

Donovan van Lelyveld said, “There is no doubt, Zuma must go.”

Moses Titus, 38, said Zuma must resign and there is too much scandalous rape and corruption accusations surrounding the president. “Since Zuma has been in power, no sport team has won internationally,” he said.

Coenie Thiart, 67, is of the opinion that the whole cabinet and Zuma are corrupt, and that he should step down.

Vincent Sebe, and Papi Assegaai, both 36, answered the question with a song, “Zuma must fall, Maimane must balance and Malema must stand.”

Out of the 19 community members approached, only one said Zuma should remain in his position. Randfontein has spoken.
