Young pedestrians held at gunpoint, robbed

Police calls on the help of the community members to assist them with information.

Two pedestrians, one of them 18 years old, recently were held up at gunpoint and robbed of their wallets and cellphones in Godfrey Street, Homelake.

The incident took place at around 2pm in broad daylight on Thursday, 31 March but Randfontein Police calls on the help of the community members to assist them with information.

“It is alleged by the 18-year-old complainant that they were at the corner of Beatrice and Godfrey Street when they suddenly were held up at gunpoint.

The suspect demanded wallets and cellphones.

“The victims were robbed and the suspect fled,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

No injuries were reported and no shots fired. The investigating officer, warrant officer Santie le Roux-Laufs, believes that someone must have witnessed the incident.
