Air conditioner thieves strike at business

W'aria police: The stealing of air conditioners in the area is now getting out of hand.

Air conditioning thieves struck at a business in Westonaria leaving them without four dismantled units.

The theft was reported to have occurred last Friday. The suspects are not yet known.

The complainant told Westonaria Police that he locked the business premises and left with everything in order that day. The following day, at around 8am, he opened the business and noticed the phones and computers were not working.

The complainant then realised the main switch tripped. Everything then went back to normal and he never suspected any foul play.

“On 11 April, the complainant received a call from his colleague informing him that four air conditioners which was mounted on the first floor, were stolen. The complainant then suspected that the tripping of electricity was caused by theft of the air conditioners,” said Captain Siphiwe Ndlovu, Westonaria Police spokesperson.

Ndlovu continued, “The stealing of air conditioners in the area is now getting out of hand.”

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects, may contact the Westonaria Police on 011 278 5395/6 or 076 421 6500.
