Roommates held at gunpoint in robbery

Police: The gunmen forced the men back into their home before ransacking the property.

A 40-year-old man and his roommates recently were robbed by five armed suspects in their Randgate home.

The victims were targeted at around 8.45pm on Sunday before last, said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

“It is alleged the men were at their place of residence in Lazaar Avenue when they were suddenly confronted by five armed men,” she said.

The gunmen ransacked the property, taking clothing and cellphones. They were later kept at gunpoint in a room before the suspects fled the scene.

Investigating officer, warrant officer Santie le Roux-Laufs would like the public to come forward with any information that might assist her with the case.
