The Face of Westrand now in full swing

FOWR will be involved in charity acts at old age homes and orphanages.

The Face of Westrand (FOWR) in March held a one-day boot camp which included fitness and gym sessions at the BodyTech Fitness and Health Centre.

“This boot camp was such a challenge for me.

I never exercise but now that I am exposed to this training session, I feel a need to exercise and be healthy everyday,” said Marcia Letswele, an FOWR participant.

Participants in the FOWR – a ambassadorship competition – all described the fitness activity with BodyTech as something out of this world. They also were issued certificates of recognition and acknowledgement.

Further, FOWR also held a dialogue event at West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) premises. The topic of the day was ‘Kick Racism: How does racism affect us in our everyday lives, socially and economically’. This dialogue was a platform to test participants of how knowledgeable they are and how they single-handedly perceive racism per their background or society.

The dialogue was a platform for FOWR participants to identify the racism problems in the West Rand and express or suggest how the problem can be unravelled within the district. This topic was an intellectual challenging dialogue, given the fact that FOWR participants argued the motion according to their individual ethnic encounters.

Mahlodi Makaba, one of the organisers mentioned that such brief and real topics that motivate the youth to engage in their communities serve a purpose.

FOWR would like to thank BodyTech Fitness and Health Centre and Bongani Mgcina,WRDM Youth desk coordinator, for their contribution in this project.

More projects are yet to come where FOWR will be reaching out to the community. FOWR will be involved in charity acts at old age homes and orphanages. The elimination stage, where by SMS voting lines will be open to the community is, however, approaching as this ambassadorship search competition progresses.
