Dance group on the road to success

Dance group through to World Cup and now needs to raise funds.

The dance group, Blueprint set their minds to qualifying for the Dance World Cup, and they succeeded with ease.

The group started in 2014 and is led by Aithne Molotsane and Khaya Dhladhla. Khaya is a qualified instructor who was dubbed the highest ranked dancer in the country by the South African Dance Teachers Association (Sadta).

In a previous Herald article, the group said their ultimate goal is to qualify for the world cup and at the beginning of March, that goal was achieved when they won first prize in the qualifiers. They also won various awards at the National Eisteddfodd Academy (NEA).

Having achieved first place, the group will be going to Jersey, one of the Channel Islands, in June. Their biggest challenge now is to raise funds as they have to pay for their own flights, accommodation, visas and group gear. The estimated amount needed is R25 000 per dancer.

The group will hold a dance marathon to raise funds at the Toekomsrus Community Hall on Saturday 16 April at 10am. The project to raise funds for the group is called #Project525, because if 525 people or groups donate R1 000 each, they would have enough money for each dancer.
