ANC rallies votes door-to-door

A former mayor and a current one take to the streets.

The ANC recently had a door-to-door election campaign on the streets of Westonaria to encourage residents to vote.

Deputy chair of the ANC West Rand Mzi Khumalo was seen along with Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) minister, Des van Rooyen who is responsible for local governmental elections and PEC member Naga Lipuli.

Together with other officials and members of the ANC, they went door-to-door in Westonaria to promote good governance and letting residents give their input in political matters.

The door-to-door was as part of promoting democracy to encourage our people to register and vote in the forthcoming local elections,” Khumalo said.

Khumalo who is the current Randfontein executive mayor was seen walking the streets with his yellow ANC representative T-shirt with van Rooyen who is the former mayor of Merafong Local Municipality.

The two have previously crossed paths through both being involved in politics for such a long time.

This voter registration campaign is not the first by the ANC and will not be the last as the local elections are only months away.

The next voter registration weekend will take place from 9 to 10 April where residents will get a chance to go to their voting stations to register if they are new voters and to see if their details are up-to-date if they have previously voted.
