Fill up your tank – petrol prices to increase at midnight

Motorists are in for an emptier wallet after the next petrol increase.

Motorists have less than nine hours to fill up their tanks before the new petrol price hike kicks in.

From midnight Wednesday, 6 April and onwards petrol prices will increase by 88 cents (95 octane) and 86 cents (93 octane) per litre and diesel by 95 cents.

Price increases for Gauteng per litre as of Wednesday, 6 April:

• 95 octane petrol: 88 cents

• 93 octane petrol: 86 cents

• Wholesale Diesel (0.05 percent): 95.70 cents

• Wholesale Diesel (0.005 percent): 97.70 cents

• Wholesale iluminating Parraffin: 57.60 cents

• Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP): 76.0 cents

• Maximum retail price for LPGAS: 110.0 cents per kilogram

Price increases for the coast per litre (6 April):

• 95 octane petrol: 83 cents

• 93 octane petrol: 81 cents

• Wholesale Diesel (0.05 percent): 90.00 cents

• Wholesale Diesel (0.005 percent): 97.70 cents

• Wholesale iluminating Parraffin: 56.00 cents

• Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP): 76.0 cents

• Maximum retail price for LPGAS: 110.0 cents per kilogram

According to the Department of Energy the reason for the fuel increase is that on average, the price of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased internationally.
