Man pulls gun on security guard

Police: A couple was fighting, security then intervened and the man became aggressive.

A 34-year-old man was arrested for pointing a gun at a security guard.

The incident took place outside a Bekkersdal tavern at around 1am on Sunday, 20 March.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the security guard was performing his usual duties when he came across a couple fighting.

“He then intervened and removed the man from the tavern but the man became aggressive.

The suspect then allegedly dragged the security guard to his car and took out a firearm and pointed it at the guard.

“The police were called and the suspect was arrested. A case of pointing a firearm is being investigated.”

The suspect already appeared in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court and was released on bail.
