Police: When the victim tried to explain to them that he can not accept the money, one of them strangled him.

Three suspects are still wanted by Randfontein Police for their involvement in a business robbery that took place at a supermarket in Middelvlei.

Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Cluster said the incident took place at around 7.50pm on Wednesday, 24 February. Mashale confirmed two of the five men involved were arrested in the area close to the supermarket three days later.

“It is alleged the victim was at his shop when five men entered and bought some items with fake money notes.

When the victim tried to explain to them that he can not accept the money, one of them strangled him and the others ransacked his property.

“It is alleged they robbed him of cigarettes, airtime and cellphones. The suspects then fled the scene with a Datsun vehicle. The registration number is unknown. The victim sustained slight injuries on his neck.

“On Saturday, 27 February, two suspects were arrested in the area close to the supermarket. This comes after the owner saw them and alerted the police as well as the local Community Policing Forum (CPF). Together they chased after the suspects and managed to arrest them.”

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Station Commander of the Randfontein Police praised the good partnership between the police and CPF in fighting crime in the community.
