Heafty DStv increase at hand

Customers will be paying up to R759 for their DStv as of 1 April.

DStv customers are in for a nearly 10 percent increase on their fees and the hike is not just for DStv Premium customers.

Customers with DStv Premium, DStv Extra, and DStv Compact packages will be expected to fork out eight percent more for their monthly fee as of 1 April 2016.

The DStv decoder insurance price will remain the same for customers and the DStv EasyView fee will decease.

The hike has been reported to have much to do with the substantial weakening of the Rand.

South African DStv customers are not the worst hit by the recent wave of hikes by the company. In 2015, Nigeria got a 20 percent increase on its subscriptions and Zambia was hit with an increase between 21 percent and 30 percent in last year.

New fee adjustments:

• DStv Premium – R759

• DStv Extra – R459

• DStv Compact – R345

• DStv Select – R219

• DStv Family – R219

• DStv Access – remains the same

• DStv EasyView – R29

• M-Net alalogue/ CSN – 369
