Powerful prayer meeting held for women

'We need to look up to each other for mentorship and support.'

An interesting prayer meeting recently was held for female employees of the Randfontein Local Municipality at the IEC Hall.

The event was organised by Councillor Brenda Mahuma, speaker of the Randfontein Local Municipality.

The purpose was to mentor and pray for the female employees. The speaker indicated that women in all walks of life especially in the workplace are faced with many challenges. It is therefore important that women be brought together and encouraged to support one another.

“As women leaders we need not overlook the vulnerability of women in today’s challenging world. We need to encourage support for one another.

“We need to look up to each other for mentorship and support. We must appreciate who we are. In most instances you find women showing more confidence in men than in women in the same position. Women in senior positions tend to undermine those in junior positions,” Mahuma said.

She continued, “This event is held for spiritual upliftment and for recognising how important each of us are in our different capacities. We need to join hands and work together to overcome our challenges.

The beauty of nature lies in women. Women are patient and kind. They can multitask. This is a skill they can easily apply in the workplace.

“The only problem is that they don’t appreciate themselves.”

Speaker after speaker encouraged women to look no further for solutions and strength, but among themselves. The worship group continuously connected the audience with the Almighty in song.

During the second session of the programme, Pastor Khensane Moloi delivered a powerful sermon. She called for spiritual guidance for all women leaders. Some of the women were overcome by emotion.

It proved that it was a long awaited moment for these women employees. The event was closed with powerful prayers.

The employees enjoyed the event and said, “We feel rejuvenated. We feel revived spiritually and we want to thank the speaker and all who made this event worth the while.”
