Large crowd expected at career exhibition

Pupil: I am very interested in becoming a policeman.

Approximately 7 700 school pupils are expected to visit this year’s West Rand Careers Exhibition to be held at the Greenhills Stadium’s show hall over three days.

The exhibition, which started on Tuesday will come to a close on Thursday, 17 March. Schools from Krugersdorp, Carletonville, Westonaria and Randfontein will attend the exhibition.

There are 31 different exhibitioners and they include Wits University, South African Police Department, Westcol College, Guvon Academy, First National Bank, Geo Information Society of South Africa (GISSA), Netcare 911 Krugersdorp Hospital, the West Rand District Municipality Tourism Department, Damelin, Boston College and many more.

On Tuesday, Heinz Franke and Dieter Bock from the Krugersdorp Rotary Club were busy judging the different stalls for the best overall award, while pupils were obtaining as much information from the exhibitioners.

Taelo Matate in grade 12 from Letsatsing Combined School said, “I am very interested in becoming a policeman, I liked the Police stall a lot” while Ramodise Omphemetse and Lokailwe Keorapetse added they are interested in science. Everyone found the exhibition very helpful.

Dehlia van Staden, West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism Director said this is the 26th year that they administer the Krugersdorp Rotary Club’s Project. The Krugersdorp Rotary Club has made sure that this year’s event is as big and successful as the previous years.

Later on in the day the best stalls in different categories were announced.

They are:

• Educational Institution – TPTT Academy ( Travel and Tourism)

• Government Institution – West Rand District Municipality Tourism

• Banking Institute – FNB

• Professional Institute – Guvon Academy

• Healthcare – Netcare 911 Krugersdorp Hospital

The overall winner was Netcare 911 Krugersdorp Hospital.
