There’s something beautiful in the water

Yet another two beauty queens talk about their successes in the pageant industry.

Another two beauty queens from Toekomsrus have emerged and it has the Herald wondering if something isn’t in Randfontein’s water.

These two beauty queens, Jasmine Pietersen and Joslyn Sechel, both 14 years old, are relatively new to the world of beauty but have raked in big awards.

Jasmine’s awards to date:

• Won Pre-teen Gauteng (2014)

• Miss All Star overall winner (2016)

• Miss All Star royalty beauty overall winner (2016)

• Won Miss Allstar Gauteng East (2016)

Joslyn’s awards to date:

• Won Miss Junior Toekomsrus (2015)

• Miss All Star Gauteng 1st princess (2016)

Jasmine has been in the industry for three years, while Joslyn has been doing pageants for four years.

“I don’t have a specific reason for having started. My sister was doing it and my mother decided to enroll me as well. I’ve been doing it ever since,” Jasmine said.

Joslyn said various people encouraged her to start.

People always said I have the face, personality and smile to do it.”

Both beauties attend Randfontein Secondary School in Toekomsrus and love playing netball, and Joslyn also enjoys dancing.

In terms of careers, Jasmine wants to become a forensic investigator when she finishes school and Joslyn wants to study to be a psychologist.

Joslyn and Jasmine are just two of the wave of beautiful Randfontein women recently sweeping the pages of the Herald.

Toekomsrus in particular has had a number of pageant queens holding the town’s name high in their rise to fame on the West Rand and in Gauteng.

Jasmine Pietersen has raked in award after award since she started participating in pageants.
