New dance crew making waves

Help this dance group reach their dreams of going to the World Cup Dance Championships.

Randfontein has a new hip-hop dance group on the rise and they are fierce on stage.

The Blueprint dance group started in 2014 with only five dancers at Randfontein Primary School.

The dance project then took off and in 2015 they had 16 dancers which is just a drop in the ocean in comparison to the 42 dancers they have now.

The group is lead by Aithne Molotsane and Khaya Dhladhla. Khaya is a qualified instructor who was called the highest ranked dancer is South Africa by the South African Dance Teachers Association (SADTA).

Last year he competed in the dancing World Championships in Italy and finished in 6th place. He also earned the title Hip-Hop Duo World Champion in 2014. Since inception the group has won various awards.

In 2014 the group were category winners at the National Eisteddfod Academy (NEA) and at the RACA Eisteddfod.

In 2015 the group entered the large group and two small groups in both the previously mentioned competitions and won all three categories.

Not only have they done well in regular competitions, they also were invited to compete in the 13th NEA Young Performers Awards Competition which is an invite-only event.

Blueprint are currently participating in the qualifiers for the South African Dance World Cup. Their ultimate goal is to qualify for the World Cup Championships by 2017.

While the group has been successful in most of their ventures thus far but are struggling financially and are appealing to businesses in Randfontein to get on board with Blueprint as a sponsor.

They feel that it is unfair that some dancers cannot exhibit their talents due to financial difficulties.

For more information on becoming a sponsor contact Aithne Molotsane on 073 666 4462.
