Two dead after car overturns

ER24: There was nothing paramedics could do for them.

Two people were killed and two others sustained critical injuries when their Toyota RunX overturned several times on the Wedela Road outside of Carletonville on Sunday over the weekend.

According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, “Shortly after 5am paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the severely mangled wreck of the vehicle partially wedged onto the embankment of the road.

“Paramedics found a critically injured man approximately 20 meters away from the vehicle and another critically injured man underneath the vehicle. Both men were treated for multiple injuries before they were rushed off to Carletonville and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospitals respectively.

Two men with fatal injuries were found several meters away from the vehicle. There was nothing paramedics could do for them and they were declared dead on the scene. Local police attended the incident.”

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
