RHS lions roar

RHS: There is no lion like an RHS lion.

Randfontein High School (RHS) recently participated in the oldest known English Inter-High competition in Gauteng.

The competition held on Saturday 13 February in Vereeniging was attended by General Smuts High School, Riverside High School, Suncrest High School as well as the new kid on the block, Phoenix High School.

Each year one of the participating schools is given the opportunity to host the event and Phoenix High School had the honour this year. RHS congratulates their principal and his staff for a job well done.

The very excited RHS athletes and Grade 8 Spirit Trophy pupils left Randfontein at 4.30am that morning, ready to show the competition just what they are made of – and boy did they ever.

RHS took the athletics trophy for the third consecutive year with two of their juniors walking away with the Best Junior Male Field Athlete (Denellio Genade) and Best Junior Female Field Athlete (KatlegoThwani) trophies.

When participating in the mass relay, the relay athletes left the competition eating their dust, finishing two change-overs ahead of all the other schools. Not only did they prove their worth on the athletics field but they also displayed their indomitable #RHSian spirit by walking away with the coveted Spirit Trophy too.

Despite the intense heat, RHS’ little cubs proved that they were ready to become part of the RHS pride of lions. There is no lion like an RHS lion!
