Sponsor inspires Malerato Primary

By being inspired through this, they will learn that education indeed does pay.

On 19 February Malerato Primary School in Mohlakeng held their annual awards ceremony, during which the names of 12 prefects were announced.

Last year’s Grade 7 top pupil and best Maths pupil received a sponsorship.

Six boys and six girls were announced as this year’s prefects. A head boy and girl will be chosen from this group.

The proud pupils stood in front of the school and pledged that they would honour their school and take these leadership roles seriously. The school choir also performed, leaving everybody in awe of their talent.

Tweza Skhosana delivered a speech and also sponsored R7 500 in total to the school’s two award winners. Rethabile Maloka was named the best Maths pupil, and Smangaliso Ledwaba won the overall top pupil award.

Both these pupils now attend AB Phokompe High School. Tweza grew up in the street across from the school, and decided that from this year he would sponsor the school’s top pupil and top Maths pupil respectively for the next five years.

Pauline Sepanya, the school’s first principal, was invited to witness the ceremony as a special guest.

Georgina van Wyk, current school principal said, “These awards and sponsorship encourage and motivate the pupils to do their best.

By being inspired through this, they will learn that education indeed does pay. The parents of these two pupils said they would save the money for their children’s tertiary education. “
