Three of the best Google Maps Easter eggs

You can take tours in this edition of the Easter eggs series.

Google Maps is not just there for directions or to settle bitter geographical disputes with your friends – it also packed full of Easter eggs.

Are you a fan of Doctor Who? Well Google Maps has an Easter egg for the hit show with a cult following. Click here to go to the hidden Google Maps tardis. (Click to go into the police public call box).


The Time Lord travels through time and space in a shop known by the acronym TARDIS. A tardis is a machine that is larger on the inside than the outside and is supposed to change its appearance based on its surroundings.

If you ever find yourself in Fort Augustus in the United Kingdom and would like to travel to Urquart Castle the fastest way to get to your destination would be to travel on the back of the Loch Ness Monster.

This next Easter egg is by far a Herald favourite. You can take a tour of the Google data centre.

A storm trooper guarding a room.

Pegman randomly standing in an office.

A Google employee carrying an copious amounts of junk food.

Despite a note on the notice board giving advice on how to eat healthily.
