Elderly man overpowered in his home

Police: The suspects demanded firearms and instructed him to lie down on the floor.

A 61-year-old man recently was the victim of a house robbery in Dennydale.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed the incident took place at around 8.30pm on Saturday before last.

“It is alleged the victim was in his house when four unknown men overpowered him. One suspect had a firearm.

The suspects demanded firearms and when the victim told them there was none on the premises, they instructed him to lie down on the floor.

“They took cash and a variety of household appliances and left the scene. No shots were fired and the victim was not injured during the incident,” said Ernst.

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker would appreciate any information that might assist him in the investigation. He can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
