One killed, six injured in head-on crash

ER24: One of the vehicles was on fire with the deceased patient trapped inside the vehicle.

One person has been killed and six others left with moderate injuries after a collision occurred on the R28 near Westonaria on Thursday. 

The collision occurred in the early hours of this morning and involved two light motor vehicles. 

Even though it is unknown how the collision occurred, it is believed to have been a head-on collision,” said ER24 spokesperson, Pieter Rossouw.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found that one of the vehicles was on fire with the deceased patient trapped inside the vehicle. ER24 treated and transported a total of three patients to various hospitals for further treatment. The remaining patients were treated and transported by other services on scene,” said Rossouw.

The cause of the collision is unknown and subject to investigation.
