2016 Show has something for everyone

Show coordinator: We are excited about our 30th Show and invite everyone to come and share in all the fun.

There will be something for everyone at this year’s Randfontein Show. It will be held from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 March.

We are excited about our 30th Show and invite everyone to come and share in all the fun, delicious food and huge variety of entertainment on offer,” said Marcelle Mans, show coordinator.

Randfontein Show is all about fun, food and entertainment for the whole family and organisers are happy to announce they have not increased the gate fees for 2016. Besides watching some of the top South Africa artists perform live on stage, there is loads of other entertainment to suit all tastes and ages. The full programme is available on the website at www.randfonteininfo.co.za.

On Thursday 3 March at 1pm senior citizens are invited to come and enjoy a live performance by the delightful duo, Heuning in the Show Marquee on the A Field. This group is made up of Henk Dercksen and Jeanette Rootman (a former Randfonteiner) who released their first album in 2012. It wasn’t long before they won a Ghoema Award for Country Album of the Year in 2013 and have since gone from strength to strength.

Senior citizens over the age of 65 will pay only R30 (on any day) and the under 65s can buy early-bird tickets at only R60 each. Early-bird tickets (for all ages) are available until Wednesday 2 March from the show office or from a number of outlets in and around Randfontein.

Please call the show office on 011 412 2878/1562 for the list of outlets or view them on the RPA website. Show visitors 65 and older will be asked to present their IDs at the entrance gates.

For the not-so-old, the ninth Cheerleading and Pom Pom Competition on Thursday night 3 March is bound to raise the roof of the Show Marquee once again. This has become a hotly contested event and the team spirit is something to behold. Hoërskool Jan Viljoen is the current champions, but can they remain undefeated five years in a row? Only time will tell.

Another very popular event on the programme is the Women’s World Day of Prayer (WWDP) on Friday 4 March from 8am to 9.30am. The guest speaker is Elize Parker and the international WWDP theme, Receive Children. Receive Me will be adopted. The dress code/colour for the morning is white and purple. Entry to the grounds is free until 8am; thereafter the standard gate entry fee will apply (R70). Tea, coffee and cupcakes will be served after the event.

The Coca-Cola stage is a platform for local talent and includes traditional dancing, DJs, hip-hop artists, gospel singers etc.
