UPDATE: Motorcyclist succumbs to his injuries

Employer: He was an excellent worker and a great person.

A motorcyclist who crashed Thursday evening on Vanderbijl Road in Westonaria has died.

He has been identified as 35-year-old Tshepo Yawa – a driver for Westonaria Toyota.

“I received a call at around 5.20pm yesterday (Thursday, 4 February) informing me that Yawa was in an accident. When I got to the scene, Yawa was receiving medical attention from ER24 paramedics.

He was busy receiving oxygen and when I spoke to him, he looked at me, but could not talk. I received a call from Leratong Hospital this morning at 8.30am, informing me that Yawa has passed away due to the injuries he sustained.

“This is very sad, he worked for me for 10 years. He was an excellent worker and a great person,” said Herman Louw, Dealership Principal of Westonaria Toyota.

Louw added that Yawa was not married and had no children.

Although the exact cause of the incident remains unknown and is subject to an investigation, it is believed he was travelling back from work when he allegedly lost control of his motorbike, causing it to roll.
