Robber gets 15 years behind bars

'The suspect took a knife and threatened the victim.'

Terence Dlamini, 26, has been found guilty of robbery in the Randfontein Regional Court and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed a robbery case that happened on 27 March 2015 was successfully concluded in the Randfontein Regional Court on 18 January 2016.

“On the 27th February 2015 the 24-year-old victim was at his place of residence in Toekomsrus when the suspect allegedly knocked and asked for water.  Upon opening the door, the suspect took a knife and threatened the victim. 

“He demanded a cellular telephone and cash.  The suspect then stabbed the victim numerous times when he refused to give into the demands. Eventually the suspect took a cellphone telephone and R3000 cash. 

“He continued to stab the victim until someone came to his rescue. The victim was able to identify the suspect and he was arrested shortly after the incident. 

“The case was heard by Regional court magistrate, Mr Ettiene van Niekerk while Mr Vusi Mahlangu prosecuted on behalf of the state.

“The Randfontein Management extended their congratulations towards the investigating officer, warrant officer Abraham Mautlane for the thorough investigation into the matter.  They also applauded the National Prosecuting Authority for their efforts in ensuring justice.”
