Krugersdorp Cluster celebrates Police Day

Members of the Krugersdorp Cluster Police kicked back to celebrate a day about, well, their profession.

The Krugersdorp Cluster Police recently celebrated the 19th annual National Police Day at the Nelson Mandela hall in Tarlton.

National Police day was established to remember the sacrifices the brave men and women in blue have made. In addition, it is also there to highlight the significance and meaning of this essential profession.

The celebrations started at 9am sharp and boasted a formal programme presented by the Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) component which is responsible for police men and women’s psychological and spiritual well-being. The EHW addressed issues including retirement security and suicide prevention.

The “Fully Human Stage” choir from Tarlton also entertained the attendees with their beautiful voices.

In the key note address, Brigadier Henry Mollegai encouraged members to be vigilant and to take care of themselves and their colleagues in dangerous situations and to adhere to the South African Police Code of Conduct,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

“The Brigadier then led the attendees in reciting the Code of Conduct. Krugersdorp Cluster Management also presented six officials who are retiring during 2016 a letter of appreciation for services rendered.”

After the formalities, cluster members were treated to a braai and entertainment including a performance by the Fully Human Stage choir from Tarlton as well as an aerobic demonstration.

“These festivities did not hamper service delivery and normal policing duties were performed throughout the cluster,” Ernst assured.
