T20 tourney anyone?

A local cricketer is organising a Twenty20 knock-out tournament and wants your team to be a part of it.

A Twenty20 (T20) cricket tournament is coming to Randfontein and the organiser would like the town to be apart of it.

Organiser Tumi Mpaga, a passionate cricketer from Mohlakeng is inviting teams in Randfontein and beyond to participate in his T20 knock-out competition.

The competition will take place on the weekend from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 April. The tournament made an allowance for eight teams to participate – one of which is the Randfontein Cricket Club (RCC). Each team is to consist of 15 players. Players are to wear white pants as well as white shirts for matches.

The tournament will be taking place at Hoërskool Jan Viljoen (Jannas) and the Greenhills Stadium (RCC grounds). The knock-out rounds and the semi-final will be played at Jannas while teams will battle it out at RCC grounds in the final. Each team is to provide their own transport to and from matches.

All matches will be played with either two piece Waratah or Duke red cricket balls weighing 156g. The tournament organiser will provide score keepers and umpires. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided by the tournament organiser.

With regards to awards, there will be awards for man of the match as well as player, fielder and all-rounder of the tournament.

Mpaga is also appealing to the community for sponsorships for the tournament. He is looking for sponsorships of any kind. From water to T-shirts.

Interested teams and sponsors are required to confirm their attendance before Tuesday 1 March. Team managers can contact Tumi Mpaga on 073 621 0317 or via email on tumimpaga@gmail.com.

Fixtures will be released when all teams have confirmed their attendance.
