Cable thieves caught red-handed

'We are proud to have such a dedicated team in the fight against crime in our town.'

An EPR reaction team managed to arrest three men and suspected cable thieves in the Randfontein CBD on Thursday morning.

“Whilst EPR reaction officer Johan Meyer was attending to an alarm call at around 2.22am in Phumlani Centre in Battery Reef Roa, he noticed three suspects busy attempting to steel cable. The reaction officer then called for back-up.

Together with tactical supervisor Paul Putter and senior reaction officer Juandre Harding they managed to arrest all three suspects. The suspects, together with their tools used to unearth and cut the cable, were handed over to the police for further investigation.

“We are proud to have such a dedicated team in the fight against crime in our town,” said Johan Krogh, General Manager of EPR Randfontein.
