Together we can fight crime

The Randfontein traffic police wrote fines to the value of R32 000.

The Randfontein Police in partnership with the Randfontien traffic police recently were out in full force all for the purpose to fight crime.

They called the crime prevention initiative painting the town blue.

The first group of officers paraded on the morning of the last day of 2015. They were deployed in all the shopping areas in Randfontein. Visibility was the main objective to deter potential criminals. A second group of officers spent the evening with a roadblock on the R28 in partnership with the traffic police.

“A total of 186 vehicles were searched and 439 persons were encountered. The local traffic department issued 46 fines totaling an amount of R32 000 for road traffic offences. Seven people were arrested for driving under the influence of liqour throughout the evening,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

The newly appointed station commander Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela lead by example when he participated in the roadblock along with the cluster commander, Major General Anna Mateisi and the Randfontein traffic chief, Kenny Mampondo.

“Police officers were visible in all the areas and the effect was seen in the zero reporting of incidents for the period. The Randfontein police ensured that the Randfontein community was safe during their New Year celebrations,” Ernst said.
