Man killed when car veers off road

ER24: The man, found in the driver's seat, was trapped.

A man believed to be in his 50’s died after the car he was driving veered off the road on the R501 near Potchefstroom on Tuesday.

It is understood he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and hit a tree. When ER24 paramedics and Fire and Rescue arrived on scene, they found vehicle next to the road on the grass. The man, found in the driver’s seat, was trapped.

“Upon assessment it was found that he showed no signs of life. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for him. He was declared dead. The exact cause of the incident is unknown,” said Chitra Bodasing, ER24 spokesperson.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
