Young man arrested with bolt cutters

Police: He could not provide officers with a justifiable reason for having the bolt cutters.

A 27-year-old suspect recently was arrested for being in possession of housebreaking implements in Rikasrus.

“It is alleged that at 9pm one night in December the police found a man in the area under suspicious circumstances. The members investigated and the man alleged he was waiting for someone,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

The person was searched and later was found to be in possession of a bolt cutter. He could not provide officers with a justifiable reason for having the bolt cutters with him and was subsequently arrested by Sergeant Cele.

The suspect was charged and already appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court.
