Foreign man found dead in field

It is believed the Mozambican national was stabbed to death by a fellow Mozambican citizen.

Police are investigating a case of murder after a 40-year-old foreign man was found dead and his girlfriend stabbed in Witstinkhoutboom.

“At about 10.35pm one Saturday in December while patrolling the rural area, crime prevention officers were stopped by local residents. They informed the police that a body was found in the field at Inacio Farms,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

Ernst said police officers investigated and found the body of a Mozambican national with a stab wound behind his ear.

He already was dead,” said Ernst.

The officers then started investigating and found a seriously injured woman who had multiple stab wounds in the back. The woman, assumed to be the deceased’s girlfriend, was rushed to a local hospital.

Police later established the victim and his girlfriend were involved in an argument with a co-worker who is also a Mozambican national. Ernst added the argument turned violent when the co-worker started stabbing the victims.

The suspect fled the scene after the incident.

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker would appreciate any information that might lead to the arrest of the suspect. He can be reached at 011 278 8100.
