A stepson, 27, stabbed his father to death during a family dispute in the early hours of Christmas Day in Simunye.
Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the family gathered in Simunye near Westonaria at around 4pm on Christmas Eve where the father was enjoying some time with his sons.
In the early hours of the morning on Christmas Day, the suspect got into a fight with one of his siblings. His stepfather tried to stop them but then the suspect turned on him.
He took out a knife and stabbed the father once in his chest,” Lefakane explained.
His stepfather was rushed to Bekkersdal Clinic where he passed away. The son fled the scene after the incident but police managed to track him down.
He was charged with murder and appeared in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court three days after the incident.
