Police arrest more than 120 suspects in one week

Police: The most arrests were made for the possession of or dealing in drugs.

The Randfontein Police managed to arrest 124 suspects in just one week from the festive season period 11 to 18 December 2015.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, “The most arrests (19 in total) were made for the possession of or dealing in drugs.  Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and theft had the second highest arrest rate which was 13 each.

Other arrests include serious crimes such as  murder, rape, robbery, assault as a result of domestic violence, shoplifting and housebreaking.”

The police also arrested people in possession of dangerous weapons, dealing in liqour without a license and undocumented persons. Nine suspects also were arrested for drunk driving during their crime prevention operations.

“The station commander expressed his satisfaction with the arrests and commended the members for their efforts in bringing perpetrators to justice. Brigadier Manamela  wishes to assure the residents of Randfontein of the fact that the police will leave no stone unturned to ensure their safety,” said Ernst.
