A middle-aged couple were victims of a house robbery after relaxing outside in their yard on the Ooster Agricultural Holdings in Randfontein, local police said.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the incident occurred at around 8pm one Friday in December.

She said the 45-year-old victim and his wife allegedly were relaxing outside for a while and later entered their home when they were suddenly confronted by two men. One of the men was carrying a firearm and the other a knife.

Ernst added the suspects immediately tied the husband with rope and then began ransacking the house. The couple noticed a third suspect outside the house.

Numerous items were taken from the house including the couple’s car keys. They then fled on foot. None of the victims were seriously injured.
