Arsonists target storage facility

Police: It is alleged that witnesses heard an explosion.

Police are investigating a case of arson after a storage facility caught fire.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the facility was targeted by arsonists at around 7.20pm on Monday 21 December.

“It is alleged by the owner of the facility that she received a call informing her the store room was on fire,” said Ernst.

Ernst added her and her other employees investigated and found that the structure and contents were damaged as a result of the fire.

It is alleged that witnesses heard an explosion at about 6.45pm.”

The fire brigade extinguished the fire. The Randfontein Police are investigating a case of arson and would appreciate any information that might assist in the investigation.
