Young woman stabbed to death during argument

Police: The fight turned violent when the man pulled out a sharp object.

A 26-year-old woman allegedly was murdered by a 31-year-old man, Randfontein Police said.

The incident took place at a shack in Brandvlei at around 5.30pm on Monday, 7 December.

Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police said it has been alleged that a fight broke out between the 26-year-old woman and the 31-year-old man.

Ernst explains the fight turned violent when the man pulled out a sharp object with which he stabbed the woman.

She died instantly due to the stab wound,” Ernst said.

The surrounding community contacted the Randfontein Police and on their arrival they found the suspect on the scene who was immediately arrested.

“It is unfortunate that even though we are all working towards a zero tolerance regarding crimes against women and children; incidents such as this still happens.

“The Randfontein Police are striving to eradicate crimes such as this but it is a known fact that domestic issues happen behind closed doors. The Randfontein Police are therefore appealing to the communities we serve, to report issues of domestic violence – it might just save a life,” Ernst said.
