DA treats old age home

The DA bows out for the year by giving to charity.

The DA Randfontein treated residents of Friendship Haven old age home to an early morning tea in West Porges this past weekend.

This was the second year they held the event and they plan to do so for many years to come.

The event was the brainchild of DA ward 7 which is councillor Craig Harrison’s ward but wards 5 and 6 greatly contributed to the event. The DA would also like to thank everyone who donated to giving residents of Friendship Haven a dazzling start to the festive season.

Donations:
• Culemborg vet – 10 doz cupcakes
• Tuisnywerheid in Homelake
• Cake contributions from Greenhills
• Greenhills Spar

Cash Donations:
• San Giro Chickens
• Cartridge Cave

Harrison added that a number of private individuals contributed money for ingredients as well as their time.

The tea was held in the Jimmy Kitsching Hall and all residents who were able were invited to enjoy the day as part of the DA’s project to give back to the community especially those who are forgotten by society.

To those who were not able to attend the tea such as residents in frail care, the DA took goodies to them so that they, too, could share in the festivities of the day. Councillor of ward 6 and chairperson for the West Rand DA, Ever du Plessis commented that the old age home is such well-kept facility.

The DA Randfontein would like to wish residents across Randfontein a joyous festive season and a prosperous new year to come.
