A 56-year-old man is to appear in court this week after he raped his 9-year-old daughter, Westonaria Police said.
“It is alleged that on Wednesday, 9 December, the child was visiting her aunt in Simunye when she noticed the child was not walking properly.
She asked the child what the matter was but the child did not want to say a thing. The child then left with her father back to Bekkersdal where they reside.
“The following day on Thursday, 10 December, the child visited her aunt again and this time the aunt requested the granny to intervene. They both took the child to the bedroom and questioned her.
“She then started crying and later told both of them the father has being forcing himself on her. She was scared to tell anybody as her father was threatening her. The police were called and the father was arrested,” said Captain Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police.
A case of rape was opened and the investigation is continuing.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court within 48 hours.
