Is this where our children should play?

Concerned mother: The holes are not very visible and a child can fall into it, what then?

Sibongile Thabeng, mother of 8-year-old Siyabonga is worried about the holes that contractors left open in the street close to her home in Maponyane Street, Mohlakeng.

The Herald visited the site where a concerned Thabeng explained, ” Four months ago contractors ended a project but failed to close the three holes on the site.

“The schools have closed and I fear to think how many children will be playing there during the holidays. The holes are not very visible and a child can fall into it, or get hurt playing around it.”

Thabeng added that their local ward councillor, William Nawa from Ward 15, should be aware of the situation as his house is very close to the site.

She is of the view that something should have been done about this a long time ago.

We can not wait until a child gets seriously injured.”

The Herald tried contacting Nawa, but could not reach him for comment.
