Hunters play golf for a good cause

Hunters took to the golf course to raise funds for a shooting range in Randfontein.

The Randfontein branch of the South African Hunters and Game Conservation Association (SAHGCA) had a golf day at the Randfontein Golf Club to raise funds for a shooting range in Tarlton.

The SAHGC began when 50 hunters met at the National Zoological Gardens in Pretoria on one fateful Saturday morning on 1 October, 1949 to establish the Transvaal Hunters Association.

The association’s main objective is to serve the interests of hunters, sport shooters and game farmers in South Africa through promoting and expanding responsible hunting, firearm ownership, knowledge and respect for nature.

In addition the association aims to establish sustainable and affordable shooting and hunting activities for its members as well as promoting sustainable game farming.

The SAHGC has a code of conduct that protects and promotes harmony with the authorities as well as nature. Members are to respect all written and unspoken hunting laws and are not permitted to remove anything from nature they are not entitled to.

Members are to hunt with compassion and actively conserve fauna and flora, soil, water and life. They are required to treat these with love and respect.

In terms of shooting, hunters are required to use their firearms skillfully and with good judgement.
