Female shopkeeper held at gunpoint

Police: She was forced back into the shop and followed by three unknown male suspects.

A female shopkeeper in Pelzvale became the latest victim of a business robbery.

“It is alleged by the complainant that she was closing the shop at around 9.25pm on Saturday before last when somebody pointed at her head with a firearm.

“She was then forced back into the shop and followed by three unknown male suspects demanding money. They took a money box and forced the victim into a bathroom.

The suspects then ransacked the market, taking cash, cellular telephones, liquor and airtime.

“They then fled the scene. No shots were fired during the robbery and no serious injuries were sustained by the victim,” said Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police.

The South African Police Service calls on the help of the community members to assist them with information. Anyone with information can contact the Crime Stop number – 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line – 32211 to report crime anonymously.
