Drug addicts – Mother helps more than just her own son

Moodley's son has been a drug addict for about seven years now.

Sally Moodley, 50, has walked one of the most difficult paths a parent could – that of parenting and living with a child with a major drug addiction.

Moodley’s son has been a drug addict for about seven years now, where, in 2012, she took him to a detox centre in Wonderboom.

At that stage he was injecting the dangerous drug heroine and using krokodil – Desomorphine, known by the street name krokodil, is an opioid derivative of codeine. Like heroin and other opioids, it has a sedative and analgesic effect, is highly addictive, and potentially harmful.

Moodley then heard of the infrared treatment that gets used at Wonderboom and there, with her own eyes, she saw how her son’s moodswings, skin, eating habits and general well-being improve.

She herself experienced the positive effects of infrared detoxing, as she was going through tremendous stress at the time. As this was a very costly exercise, she began researching infrared herself, and with the help of a pastor in Wonderboom, familiarised herself with this idea.

In an aid to continue to assist her son, she bought the Fir infrared cabin, which even includes a music station, reading lamp, therapeutic lights and supercharge oxygen. She decided to start using the infrared cabin to help other drug addicts and their parents who does not have the funds to afford a place like the detox centre in Wonderboom.

Combined with this, Moodley uses different products from Annique, which assists the client during the detoxing sessions. Moodley has helped drug users of heroine, crystal meth, dagga, cat and krokodil and after ten sessions, a drug test proves that the user is now completely clean. Moodley says this detoxing treatment can be used for several ailments, such as sinus, stress, cancer, arthritis, menopause and many more.

While visiting the Moodley residents, the Herald had a chance to speak to a crystal meth user, just after her session.

The 24-year-old girl has been on this drug for a year and two months. She couldn’t sleep, her skin was in a very bad condition, she had bad mood swings and her appetite was very poor.

After being treated by Moodley for the three days, she regained her appetite, her skin started looking much better, her moods stabilised and she started sleeping again. Moodley’s own son unfortunately had a relapse and started using drugs again, but as soon as he is back in her care, she will, like a mother does, not give up and continue giving him the treatments and support.

Moodley’s detox centre will soon be opened officially, and anybody who would like to get more information on these treatments can contact Sally on 079 360 2455.
