Pupils encouraged to enter art competition

There are great prizes to be won and the winning artworks will be exhibited at the Show – organisers.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) and organisers of the annual Randfontein Show together with the Randfontein Art Association will be hosting an art competition for all pupils (Grade 1 to 12) in the Greater Randfontein District.

The competition ends on Friday, 19 February 2016.

There is no entry fee and each pupil can only enter one artwork. The RPA would appreciate it if pupils can be encouraged to participate in this competition.

There are great prizes to be won and the winning artworks will be exhibited at the Show along with artworks of some of Randfontein’s top artists.

These are the terms and conditions for entering the competition:

• All artwork must be handed in at the Arts and Culture Department at the Education Department at 108 Maugham Road, Randfontein by no later than Friday, 19 February at 4 pm. Contact person: Elsa Becker, Cell: 082 974 2563, email: zettiebecker@gmail.com

• Theme: My Memories of Randfontein Show

• Age Categories: Primary School Grades one to three, grades four to six

• Size: A3. All artwork must be neatly mounted

• Medium: Any medium may be used—crayons, charcoal, water colour, mixed medium, ink, pencil, pastels, acrylic and oil paints

• The judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into

• Each finalist will be notified telephonically and can collect their complimentary Show entrance ticket from the Show office (before 3 March) so they can attend the prize giving

• Prize giving: (First, second and third place in each category only) will be announced on Friday, 4 March at 6.30 pm (Just before the main evening performance) in the main entertainment marquee on the A field on the Show grounds

• After the winners have received their prizes, artists can collect their artwork from the Art Association stall located on the Show grounds or from the Show office, the week after the Show (7 to 11 March)

• The RPA and the Randfontein Art Association will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or theft of any art works submitted

•The entry form must be attached to each entry at the back of each art work

The prizes are as follows:

• First prize: R500 PNA Voucher and free Art Lessons for two months with Cum Laude Art School.

• Second prize: Free Art Lessons for two months with Cum Laude Art School.

• Third prize: Free Art Lessons for one month with Cum Laude Art School.
