Young man dies after being shot in the leg

Police: The wounded young man allegedly ran away but he died in the street shortly after the incident.

A 21-year-old man lost his life during a senseless shooting incident in Toekomsrus.

“At around 9pm on Monday 23 November it is alleged that a group of young men were standing in an open field in Toekomsrus. They were allegedly approached by a group of five men when one of them produced a firearm.

Then, without any words, or argument, the suspect shot the 21-year-old victim in his upper leg.

“The wounded young man allegedly ran away but he died in the street shortly after the incident,” said Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police.

The investigating officer, Warrant officer Thabiso Duiker urges any person who might be able to assist him in tracing the suspect to contact him urgently. His contact number is 011
278 8100.

The South African Police Service calls on the help of the community members to assist them with information. Anyone with information can contact the Crime Stop number – 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line – 32211 to report crime anonymously.
