Man robbed at knifepoint near school

Police: The area will be patrolled intensively to prevent the occurrence of similar acts.

A 25-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint near Hoërskool Riebeeckrand.

“The man was allegedly walking along the street when he was confronted by three unknown men. One of the men pulled out a knife while the others grabbed the victim’s tablet. The complainant feared for his life and he ran away from the suspects.

The Randfontein Police wish to warn pedestrians who are walking in the area around the school and the bridge in 6th Street to be vigilant and to – where ever possible – not carry any valuables with them.

“The area will be patrolled intensively to prevent the occurrence of similar acts,” said Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police.

Sergeant Freddy Mokone would appreciate any information that might assist him in the tracing of the stolen tablet and/or the suspects. He can be reached on 011 278 8100.
