Greenhills happy about their wheelie bins

The unsightly black bags will now be replaced by neat black bins.

Residents of Greenhills extension 5 gathered at the Greenhills Stadium on Saturday to collect their wheelie bins.

Councillor Peter Dick of ward 9 as well as Councillor Evert du Plessis of ward 6 were part of the handover. They also were involved by handing out forms and instructing residents what to do.

Residents arrived with their municipal rates and taxes accounts as well as their identity numbers and after they registered, had their wheelie bins sprayed with their respective street numbers.

The municipality workers were working eagerly to ensure quick service.

The total cost of a wheelie bin is R400 where the municipality pays half for the first bin and the resident pays the other R200.

Residents were queuing in a long line from early the morning, but everyone left satisfied with their wheelie bins in tow.

The initiative by the Randfontein Local Municipality is to modernise and standardise Randfontein’s refuse removal services. The unsightly black bags will now be replaced by neat black bins.
