Business robbed in broad daylight

Police: Shop invaded by a number of men, some armed with firearms.

A 33-year-old woman and her staff were forced into an out-of-sight office in their shop while armed thieves carried the contents of their safe away.

The robbery took place in broad daylight (at around 1.45pm) on Kenneth Road, Greenhills on Monday, 9 November.

“It is alleged the shop was invaded by a number of men, some armed with firearms. The staff was forced into an office out of sight and the complainant was taken back into the front of the shop.

The woman was allegedly forced to open the safe and the suspects took an undisclosed number of cellphones as well as her jewelry. The men then fled the shop. Fortunately, no shots were fired and no serious injuries were sustained during the incident,” said Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police.

Investigating officer, Warrant Officer Karen Nel would appreciate any information that might assist her in the investigation. She can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
