Two people badly burnt in shack fire

Police investigating a case of arson.

Two people had to be rushed to hospital following a shake fire in Maboe Street, Mohlakeng.

The incident took place at around 4.14am on Sunday before last.

It is alleged the witness informed police officers on scene that he received numerous messages from a friend. He decided to go to the friend’s address to determine what the reason for the messages were.

“Upon his arrival he found the shack in flames,” said Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police.

Ernst added, “The witness was assisted by other residents in the area and they were able to extinguish the fire. Two badly burned people were found in the shack and were rushed to a local hospital by emergency services.”

Police are investigating a case of arson.
